      Posi vs standard, handling?

I was wondering if a car would handle better with the standard rear end vs a posi, I noticed they use to use them at NASCAR.. I'm thinking less friction especially during turns, no slip, lighter... I know a common misconseption is a standard differental only turns one wheel but that's not true, they tend to overload the one wheel that brakes loose during hard launches...

      Any thoughts?

Somewhere you got some bad info. Every car & truck in the upper NASCAR series run some version of a Locker. For ovals, most run a CTR version, and only unlock the left rear wheel, when turning left. For road courses, they run a conventional unit that unlocks when turning left & right.

Detroit Lockers (and clones) do not increase friction in the drivetrain. They are either locked like a spool ... or unlocked like an open diff.

Who in NASCAR uses an open rear end?
67 Camaro RS that will be faster than anything Mary owns.

The short answer is a car will not perform better with an open diff.
