Ask Cody if his tires are ok...oh wait he can't answer!
I'd avoid all the mess and go with the easy 9.5 with a 5.5 back space. 10" your going to need 5 3/4 - 6" backspace depending on your car and modify the inner well abit. Please measure carefully or use a friends mock up rim.

Streetking's Red 73 T/A is running:
18x8f 255/40/18 with 4.5"bs
18x10r 295/35/18 with 5.5"bs
Firebird/T/As have a more rounded wheel opening than Camaros though...

i just got m 18x10 5.75bs 295/35/18 and 18x8 4.5bs 245/40/18 on my 71, they all fit great, but make sure your car is not lowered too, too much, and if you have any aftermarket fenders, hope they are good quality.

the front dont touch anything at full turn, and the rears clear everything in driveways, i will get some pics when i get some time. you make it sound like its impossible!

I never said that. Everyones car is different so I try to recommend measuring carefully. Its good to try to document most of the cars here so others can use it for reference. Pictures are even better so those can see and imagine how their car might look. Im glad your set up works.
I had a guy ask me what sizes he could use and I told him what I was running on my car, luckily he was local so we pulled my set up off and put it on his car and they would not work and a slightly deeper rear back space would be better for his car.
Trust me impossible is not in my vocabulary...my style is pick the sizes, set the stance and build the car around that. :icon996:

I did the same thing. Lot of work just to fit the tires and wheels I wanted, but I spent 15 years wishing I could fit more and now I can, so no regrets!
