What kind of research do you guys look for when you use a more modern master cylinder on a classic car. The master on my C3 is bad and i went to replace it and the one I got was bad out of the box. This got me to thinking about using a newer master with a screw on cap instead of that old PITA style cap.

You just need to make sure the new master is set up for the same configuration (F&R disc in your case I assume) and the same bore if you want to keep your pedal feeling the same. I know the Wilwood tandem master is build around the same basic design as the C3, but a lot prettier.

Actually I would like to move the pedal feel farther away from the pedal.

Are you running manual or power brakes on your C3? The manual applications will have come with a 1" bore MC whereas the power brake applications had 1-1/8" bore units. In those bore sizes, a change of 1/16" will result in about an 11%-12% change in pressure and pedal travel assuming everything else stays the same.

It is vacuum assisted power brakes
