Does anyone here run this steering box on their car? What are your thoughts over OEM?

Love to hear some thoughts also-besides from the folks that sell them:) I asked it awhile back a few places and never got an answer.

Thought about one for my 64 Impala project also to toss the funky old factory assist cylinder style.

I like the 600 delphi box, I do sell them but I am not trying to sell them to you.....if that helps. I get them from DSE but have heard good things about Lee and there is likely an OEM application that you could steal it from. Also worth noting, I run the DSE box on my roadster. It is way overkill but it had the ratio I wanted. Even in that application with 1200 pounds on the front end and 235 tires the feedback is pretty decent and has never felt overboosted.

For the 64 Impala, I have used the CPP 500 series box in the past with good results but there can be a clearance issue with some aftermarket radiators. Borgeson does a 600 box for that car as well. I haven't tried it on a 58-64 but have put many on trifives and always been happy with the feel of those boxes.

Donny I think the CPP 500 is the same box just a different # they use.(?) I know Showcars has an aluminum radiator with a notch for aftermarket steering box issues. Years ago I found a company Corvette Steering that added "legs to an 800 box to bolt them to Impalas.

I guess the big question is how much difference in "feel" do they have vs a "good" performance 800 series box friom Lee, AGR etc. And how is the feel different.

800s are on all the GMs-bodies F body second gens, third gens, trucks, Jeeps, circle track spring cars used to used them as well as the NASCAR boys -who I think are using the 670 box now.

the GM 800 Fbody box is a close swap for a P/S box in a '56 olds. Just saying.

Man if you were close I would give you the box off my Trans am.. I bought a new AGR box, and the 1975 Trans am box worked well...just so you could try

Ive got 15 turn one 600 series boxes sitting in my garage.... 10:1 12:1 14:1 and 16:1's... they are as is will most likley need a rebuild from turn one and possibly a valve change since they have a t7 valve which is very heavy....pm me if anyone wants more info

I know this is an older thread but I am looking to get some new steering gear for my Nova (the stock manual box literally fell apart the other day... thank God I wasn't driving... but I was about to get on the road 0.o)

I've been looking at everything from DSE to AGR to CPP and even the Jeep Delphi 600 box swap
I don't need the nicest box ever but I do want quick ratio (I plan on autocrossing the car) and good steering feel. And something that won't fall apart... my stock box was very old ad worn but I have heard a few odd things about CPP's boxes, which is the safest bet in terms of quality/price?

Check out Turn One. Now that Lee no longer does boxes, I think Turn One may be the new "go to" place.
