Anyone have experience with DEUTSCH electrical bulkhead connections?

Looking for anyone that may have experience with DEUTSCH electrical bulkhead connections, I am working on a restoration build of my Grand National powered 1980 Malibu Wagon and I want to do some wiring mods to clean up the under hood clutter. I have 2 stock wiring harnesses the plan is to reroute the wiring from the passengers side fender area to the fire wall directly behind the engine. The car's body is on a rotisserie so its the opportune time to mod the fire wall. I am looking into a multi pin bulkhead connection's I found the DEUTSCH DRCP28-86SA which is perfect for my needs with wiring sizes accepted from 22-12awg. It has 86 pins which is a bit overkill but I can plug unused cavities or possibly go to a smaller connection. I am looking for a plug style like this not the round mili spec style, I want to utilize one plug for the harness.

I am unfamiliar with the DEUTSCH brand just looking for any info on there connections. I do not want to install anything that's junk and could cause problematic issues due to the fact that the connection inside the car will be buried behind the dash it will not be easy to get to.

Thanks for any help or information. -Ed

When I worked on trucks 20 years ago the Maxon Eagle trucks we had used Deutsch connectors which worked fine. The biggest problem we had was the circuit board they plugged into was poorly mounted in an even poorer location. The armoring company I used to work for used Deutsch products also. I know the Ladd company well. I know the founder personally, sold the company about 10 years ago and I have friends that work there. It's a very reputable company.

That's a nice looking part. Key questions you'll need answered: 1. how is it secured to the panel?, and 2. what kind of crimping tool is required?

Those are cool. But I really like these:

      Simple and clean.

LOL. Deutsch is not junk. Far from it. The world's largest mining equipment manufacturer uses them on all their equipment.

In fact, i'm also using a Deutsch bulkhead connector on my Blazer project.

You need a standard Deutsch barrel terminal crimp tool.

These are milspec connectors...shouldn't have to worry about them on your hotrod.

I have used them alot over the years and they are great connectors. You can get pins with crip or solder joint even gold if you need for special applications. You will want to get pin removal tools also so if you should need to take apart.

Do you have any other pictures of the connectors installed? Can you recall the Deutsch part numbers you used for your bulkhead connection.
