Detroit speed's tubs wont allow a 335/30/18 on my 72 Ventura(nova). That drops me back to a 315/30/18. The tire height is something like 26.1 (4.05 sidewall)for the 335 and 25.5(3.75 sidewall) for the 315. Is that short of a sidewall something I can use?

It would severly limit your choices in brands, but a 315/35/18 would be almost the original height you were going for. (Kuhmo makes them, didn't see others).
If you don't have your rims yet, there are more choices going to a 315/35 in a 17" rim.
I get nervous below 4" of sidewall, but again get a lot of potholes and railroad tracks here. I dont' like ruining $300/pc rims.

it says right in there catalog the tubs for nova's only allow up to a 315,
wanna sell 335/18s??

Depending on how large of a front wheel you're able to run, the 315 will be a much more balanced tire anyways. I wouldn't worry about the .25" of sidewall. There are much more r-compound tires available in 315/18 rather than 335/18. Just something to think about.

I'm waiting on a Wayne to build me a C4 clip. A 315/30/18 at 25.5 inches tall forces a 265/35/18 at something like 25.4 inches tall. I wanted to use the 275/35 but its too tall for the rear 315/30.

Why not just widen the minitub an inch? You're already cutting up the floor, adding a 1 inch piece of metal shouldn't be too, hard, and you should be able to make it look nice, unless you're going for a factory look that is.

Well, the tub would have to be widened that same inch, and the frame notch would turn into a frame cut since it likes about 3/4 inch going through now. With all that said I still cant say your not right though. I guess your saying the 315/30's, 265/35s would pretty much kill the looks

I have to agree with James here... Why give up the look you want just because a company doesn't make what you need? Fabricating is fabricating and, if the tub job hasn't been done, there should be no issues with making it fit your wheel/tire combo. Cut up the DSE tubs and make them work or, save the dollars and re-use the stock ones. It just takes a little more time to get them out if you plan to re-use them... Stay true to your vision.

The new Nitto NT01 tires come in 315/18's :)
335's look cooler but in reality 315's are probley a better performance choice..

To fit the 335's your going to have to move the frame in or "Z" it over...the necassary notch would be way past the frame.

I say cut up the inners...ya know that's the way we used to have to do it in the pre-DSE Deep Tub days!! It only takes a little longer and you can make them the exact width you want!! And don't let moving the rails slow you down either...it had to be done on Malitude!! I'm with the others, go after the look you really want!! :)

Count me in as a fan of doing the bigger tubs. I did the DSE deal on my 69, and I just finished a custom job on the 70 we are building, re-using the original inner fenders (which thankfully were in decent shape, no replacements available). The job will be a lot easier if you can buy replacement inners, in the stock config. On mine, I have to drill/grind ALL of the spot welds after removing the inners such that they could be re-used, that was the hardest part of the deal.
As far as the tire stagger from a performance standpoint, unless you run an extremely light engine, your car will likley have understeer issues anyway. I'd go for the look you want.
