Hi all. Happy Holidays, hope everyone is well! I took out the Camaro after a month or so, haven't been feeling too hot. The alternator fan came loose and did some nice damage to itself and the upper bracket on the ride home in the rain. Its time to replace this sucker with something nicer. No idea how many amps it even is. It was an over the counter autozone special...

Check out the fan damage. After verifying it was nothing major, I had to drive home 90 miles in the rain. Didn't sound all too good :yeah:

Sure is fun driving in the rain though:naughty:

Was browsing on summit/jegs and the usual suspects. I need a passenger side long water pump for a Big block. I am looking to avoid chrome at all cost if possible. I think powerdercoat black would be best. I read some bad things about Powermaster. I've found this brand "Tuff Stuff" which I assume is chinese in house Summit stuff as well? Any ideas?

Thanks all! Happy Holidays!

On my big block I used a old number AC Delco reman 321-411 which napa lists as NNE 1N4605G as new one, Bosch reman BSH AL8649X, premium reman RAY 134605G, "silver line" reman RAY 2134617G.
this is a 124 am CSI 144 alternator, If I remember correctly Isourced it from early 90s cop car/taxi part number for a caprice. Had to drill out the bottom hole and I used long pump so I used cresent wrench to "raise" the upper mount enough to slip bolt with nut and washer on it. Worked well til wore out, still got it, hope to rebuild it one day or swap it. wires up very similar to older SI series alternators, I looped one wire over to batt terminal on alternator, remade charger wire out of 8 guage and had single trigger wire from 12 v key on to old external regulator looped it to one of the wires through harness to old alt plug wire (used what was there simpler ) and taped other wire back into harness with power cable. This runs its turn on through stock dash lamp, and keeps any issues from arising I still had alt light.
Id have to look up harness lettering again on my other computer for it. Plugs are available from AC Delco, and most stores too fit.
AND with newer digital regualtor it only turns on enough to replace power used, e less drag.
When I was working part time for AZ I sold dozens of them, even made plugs up for people and even wired few cars for them. Neat part is stock 10si fans and pulleys fit right on. There is also a 140 amp version but with slightly different plug orientation, but same size case/
I installed it cause I built a stereo system, kind of cool when I had amps guage and watch it on every bass beat jump up!
worked fine from 94 through 2008. Was on my 70 MC and my 78 C10 from 02 too 08 as stated.

I'm running a Powermaster in my Vega that I bought used on eBay several years ago.
It's a 12SI rated at 100 amps.
I have a healthy stereo system, electric fan, power windows, etc.
I've had no problems with it.

I'm running a polished 140amp Powermaster one wire 12SI alternator that I purchased from Summit. I have no complaints.
