Hello everyone, I'm new around here and had a question about oil pans. I have a 68 Nova with stock subframe that will see almost all street use with maybe a visit to the strip on occassion. I have used the retro lsx(holley now) pan in the past with good luck, but I would like to have a little better baffling in the pan. I have narrowed it down to the MAST pan or Autokraft pan. Just wondering what kind of experience anyone has had with the two pans. Thanks

Welcome to the site! I see your fairly new and your first post. Im going to vote for the Mast pan... Its all I use in my shop. If you decide to go with the Mast pan I can get one dropped shipped to you.

we use the autokraft pan, mainly because it is almost flush with the crossmember.

It seems the autokraft pan has a litlle bit shallower sump and has better baffling and the mast one has an o-ring. Someone on ls1 tech says the mast pan has a depth of 5.75inch at the oil drain plug . The autokraft is 5.5". I don't see the depth on mastmotorsports website though, its kind of odd that they don't have it. Because of that I would choose the autokraft pan. By the way I have a canton pan which is like the autokraft.

The Mast pan does not hang below the crossmember..... it is baffled well and has the added benefit of adding bottom end strength/structural integrity as GM designed it. I like the look of the other pans, but not willing to sacrifice the strength the cast aluminum pan offers over a sheet metal pan.... and they look great as well.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I really like the idea of keeping a cast pan like the factory designed. Just wanted to make sure it would fit well.
