Nice!
:hmm:
I wonder how they would look on a car painted in GM's Firethorn Metallic Red, circa 1977 ?

Like doo doo. Too monochromatic IMHO. The subtle differences in color may look better in person as this is just cheesy hack rendering. Visual aid only.
I need that mustang.
76 T/A but samey.

Wow! The two colours are more similar than I thought they would be.
I kind of like the looks of it. It reminds me of the colour matched rally wheels that were available on the late '70s Rally Sport Camaros.

Ignore my doo doo remark as that is very IMHO. As long as you are happy with your car. I can do a better rendering if you would like? The source image I used was not light friendly. I would imagine the hue difference between the firethorn and the copper would become more distinct in person. "firethorn" is very open to interpretation, apparently, as I have seen it range wildly in hue depending on whom and on what day it was sprayed. Carousel red is even worse.
A similar copper finish can be achieved on any wheel as wheels are perfectly capable of receiving a coat or two of paint. Duplicolor makes some nice copper wheels paints. Heck, Firethorn, or color match, can be painted onto any wheel if your desire is for a monochromatic look.

That's true. And we sometimes need to use a wet paint process to meet a customer's color requirement. However, we generally consider a powder coat to be a more durable finish. And we do all of our own powder coating in house, which gives us better control over quality and timing. So holding all else constant, we'd prefer to do a powder coat, if possible.

I don't know why, but I am in love with that finish. Looks great on a white car....hum.....

Good to know. When and I get around to purchasing some big-buck wheels, I'll be looking at Forgline products. What are your power coating options by the way? Are you able to color match to a customers paint code?
My only real experience with colored aluminum comes from a paintball background. Is anodization an option? In paintball world anno is considered superior to powder coat as it weathers better and lookes much nicer.

We try to keep these up to date at our website. We have LOTS of options and are always coming up with new ones. See: http://www.forgeline.com/products/accessories-finishes
There is one new one, Matte Red, that is not listed there yet. We'll get that up as soon as we're done setting up all of the new Grip Equipped wheels.
Are you able to color match to a customers paint code?
Not with powder. We can often get pretty close. But if we have to match a paint code exactly, or if it is an unusual color, then we might need to resort to the wet paint process.

Really? We've had the opposite experience. We consider the powder coat to be superior to an anodized finish. However, if you like this look, then you might want to check out our other "Transparent" color options (ie: Transparent Blue and Transparent Red). These look like anodized but are really a more durable powder coat.

LOL, no problem there. It would be a dull world if we all liked the same thing.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm a long way away from making a decision on wheels. I'll just add this colour to the ever growing list of options.

I know what you mean. My Vega's paint is almost worn down to the primer but it still amazes me how different it can look in different light. It can be anywhere between dark copper to an auburn red.
