Thinking a little out of the box. I Would like to get opinions on using the center console to house all of my wiring and electronics. First off... has any one done this?, and if so any pros or cons.
As I am setting up the wiring for my car I am noticing I have almost no room under the dash. I need to mount the Ecm, Compushift, Power cell , Master cell, tac module, paddle shifter electronics, Mimod CPU, and the rest of my wiring. I thought about this long and hard and thought about using the middle of the car. An easy path from front to back. The entire console from front to backseat would need to be removable to gain access. Also no concern for the shifter as it will not be in the console.

Here are some sketches I have made.

I'm doing the same thing, but I don't have a console design figured out. I'll figure that out later.

I'd rather remove a console and access most of my electronics, then do so under the dash.

I like the idea of shortening the wiring, and centralizing it up the center. I'm using ISIS as well and have a lot of stuff to mount.

I thought pretty long about it also and came to the same conclusion. Granted, I'm no expert at this stuff.

I anticipate I may have to modify the backseat as well.

There's no reason you can house your electronics there, I've placed security systems, parts to audio systems, control relay panels, and ECMs in consoles. Other than having some issues getting wire to and from the console, in some cars, there's been no difficulties or actual running issues in doing so.
