1st gen camaro brake booster interference issue
Big block in a 1st gen

Roller rockers

Tall valve covers

Drivers side will not go on.

Has stock 11" brake booster. I figure this will have to go, in favor of a smaller booster.

Now, I am swapping brakes this winter, c5 corvette fronts and a generic rear disc swap.

What booster should I buy? Anything I could grab from local parts store that I could make work with a little jiving?

or from jegs that will bolt right up?

Figured I ask here first before the camaro specific sites with little traffic in the 1st gen areas

If possible, if like to buy the booster and master all together

thanks!

9" dual. If that won't clear I would go hydroboost.

Npd has a 7" and 9" booster for $250ish

Is 7" too small?

Also what size master?

1"?
1.25"?

Right stuff dual 8" booster. I'm running one with an ls1 and my friend if running one with a 383 and tall edelbrock valve covers that hit his 11" booster.

How is your wiper? His hit the valve covers too.

Mine is a big block, looks to be plenty of clearance to the wipers

I had a SBC with tall alum covers. Cleared just fine

I had the same problem when I swapped to tall Dart valve covers after re-doing the top end on my 502 and ended up going with a 7" Jeg's booster to go with a Master Power front disc kit that I installed in my '68 Camaro back in '01. I believe that it has a 1.25" bore but I'm not positive. A buddy of mine has a non-power Wilwood kit in his '67 Chevelle drag car that works every bit as well as my setup and I want to take that route late in 2013. Maybe check that out, especially if you have ever thought about going to a solid roller setup. :P
