So I have finally started the transformation of my 1969 Z28. For the last 10 years I left the 302 sitting on the shelf and have had various street/strip motors in this car. The last time the car was driven it went 10.8@126MPH with a very mild 540. I have decided that it is time to restore the car with a modern twist.

The Tear Down. The car looked like this on one Saturday morning.

The car came apart very easy as it in pretty good shape other than the paint was cracking.
We got the complete interior and drive train removed.

I removed everything then mounted it on the rotisserie and prepped for Soda Blasting.

Looks like a solid shell you have there. That sure helps when doing a full build. Got any specs of what you are doing parts wise?

I am wanted to put it back to more of a long distance street car that we can drive to car shows comfortably. My wifes big thing is she doesn’t want to have to take a shower after being in it.
My last motor was extremely fun on the street but if you didn’t smell like gas you smelled like burnt rubber.
So I have decided to freshen my 302 with a hydraulic roller cam
EZ-EFI.
Tremec 6 speed I still have the Muncie.
Vintage air
DSE Mini Tub and 2” drop
17” Billet Specialties Vintec all around
approx. a 325 wide rear tire.
I have the car so far apart it doesn’t make sense not to replace all of the wearable parts. Its getting a full redo. This was a running and driving car but I am amazed how much of it is not being reused.

Frame and suspension back from Powder coating. It turned out Great!
The body is now fully primed inside and out.
Glad you're keeping the 302. It's a great motor that's just not really seen any more. Good luck!

I traded up to the EZ EFI 2.0 so that I could have the advantage of the self learning timing control. Improved monitoring, tuning and fan control. Hopefully on the dyno this week.

I think the motor will make 300 HP or more. I want it to run smooth and responsive more than the BIG radical power. I will post the #'s when its done. With the EFI and the T56 Magnum I think it will be a fun enough long distance car. The car has not been painted yet. I have changed so many things there has been a lot of mock up. I also did the DSE mini-tub.

Attached is a pic of a Fiske 18" wheel with a 345 tire. I will be using something else just wanted to see what the max tire I could fit in it.

Send the heads and intake for porting and you'll get another 50hp+- out of it. Nice Build!!

Here is a quick Video of my DZ 302 with the Fast EZ EFI 2.0. It has 30 over Forged Pistons, Scat Rods, Studded top and bottum end, Hydrualic Roller Cam, Comp Stainless Roller Rockers, 10:1 Compression. The little Motor made 340Hp @ 5700 and 333TQ @ 4500. I just want it to be a strong reliable and decent on fuel.
I think it will work great with the T56 Magnum
