      Big rims on the rear??

This may be the wrong forum to ask this question in if so sorry in advance. Has anyone put 19s or 20s on the rear of an early camaro? I see it is all the buzz with the street rodders, I think it would look cool if it can be done. I currently have 17s all the way around and am considering going bigger on the rear if its possible.

it has been done alot. check the "cars" section and there should be a few.

Some will say it looks goofy. Me personally, I like the same rim diameter all around.

      But, hey. It's your car.

      look here.

Many cars, including Camaros rolled on 20's on the back at the Columbus Good Guys Nationals. On Camaros I think they seem too big and give the car the look of a "toy".

Some bigger cars like Mopars can carry it off better. I'm like Tony though and like them all the same.

I personally think it looks goofy, but yes it can definitely be done. Just remember you need to adjust tire aspect ratio for the wheel diameter. Also make sure you measure backspacing etc. to get the right fit. Nothign worse than shelling out lots of $$ on a wheel that won't fit properly.

I say it depends on the wheel style as much as the size. Fat lip wheels will make a rim look bigger without actually being bigger. 20's look good under the rear of a '69, but to me they are little big for a '67 or '68 although Prodigy has me wavering on that thought. I will be going with 19's on my '68, same ones Yody has on his Bird.

I run 17's in front and 18's in the rear - just becareful - there is a very fine line when wheels are concerned.

Since 19" wheels are used on the new Corvette and Viper, that should tell you all you want to know about whether they're serious performance items or not. There sure isn't a shortage of 19" Ultra HP tires. 20's are where I start to waver even though I don't know why.

That is cool. I'm a Mustang man, but I've drooled over 68 Chargers from the day they rolled out of the showroom.
