Which one would you recommend and why? The painless is about about $70 cheaper. I am not afraid of doing wiring or connections, and I have all the tools and connectors needed.

Ecklers kit is American Autowire and that would be my choice. It is more complete and VERY vehicle specific, not just generic Gm harness.

AAW just did my 70 RS and it was pretty easy
I would recommended the AAW (american auto wire) wire harness (or ecklers if its made by AAW) for the extra money you get brand new end connectors (many are AAW/GM exclusives) and with the painless kit you are suppose to reuse the old connector housings and put the new wire terminals into you're 40 year old housings

AAW all they way. As Rod mentioned, you get all the sockets as new, high quality items. Most of them are already connected and AAW gives you room to make a cleaner install as well. Another advantage is they use gm colors in addition to labeling everything so referencing your old wiring is possible if you get stuck. They also use original gm crimps for added security.
I just did mine a few months ago and did a bunch of research prior to purchase. I had pretty much decided on AAW and decided to call them and see what customer service was like and was really pleased. Done deal. Just remember you will need a Packard style crimper, I got mine on ebay for about 50 bucks for the ratcheting model.
Good luck

Hey guys! I kinda needing some help. I'm thinking about getting an AAW harness for my 67 firebird. The LS2 that is going in came out of a 2006 GTO with the complete engine harness. Does anyone know if it will hook right up or is there a harness that adapts them?
