When I place engine/tranny in car the 2 holes closest to radiator support on the frame mount are elevated approximately 3/16"-1/4". At this point the engine mount to frame mount bolts are fairly loose and move freely. I can get bolts into the frame stands and once tightened, the gaps go away. However, the engine mount bolts are now more snug and hard to move freely. Has anyone else has a similar experience? I have tried jacking up the transmission but it does not change the frame mount gap issue and obviously you can only raise it so move. I have S&P adaptor plates, prothane engine mounts (7-504) and 69 camaro 302/350 frame stands.

Any help is appreciated. Maybe there is nothing wrong by tightening the frame stands etc. down the way I am but just wanted more advice. THANKS!!!!

Have you tried putting spacers between the mounts and adapter plates? Sounds like the bolt center to center measurement in the frame stands is wider than the the same measurement of your motor mounts.

No not really. I know some people have done it to gain clearance for their oil pan to clear the front crossmember. You are welcome to come by tomorrow and grab the extra set of frame stands I have and see if they fit any better?

I have not seen this issue but I would bolt down the frame mounts first then place the motor into place, i use the same frame mounts you have and motor mounts but I have always use the trans-dapt plates, i have never used adaptor plates

heres the trans-dapt plates used on a mockup block
