      Gauge ideas.

It seems like custom cars anymore have way too many gauges. especially in the turbo world, it seems like you cant have too many gauges. I'm thinking of going the other way. In fact, i'm almost tempted to make my car just like my dirtbike, no guages at all. Unfortunately, with my habits, I think that would just lead to a lot of speeding tickets and a wrecked engine. So, maybe there is a happy medium. I've been looking at stack guages and various other integrated information displays, but I wanted to see what you guys have run, and what works and what doesn't. I'm thinking I definitely want a tach (preferably analog, and vintage looking text would also be a plus). the rest of the info I want small and hidden for the most part. I need oil pressure and water temp displayed somewhere. I would be ok with idiot lights for the rest.

ultimately I want my eyes on the track, not on the 15 gauges on my dash. so in the spirit of keeping it simple, what have you used? and post pictures if you can.

      thanks in advance.

If I didn't already have several individual gauges I'd probably go with dual quad-style gauges. They may not be the best for racing situations as the dials so close to each other.

You could always go the NASCAR route...big tach, then smaller for oil press and temp, water, trans temp, and throw in a fuel level for kicks.

NVU makes some great 3-1 Gauges. I had a custom set made for my '67.

      Here's a set of 3-1's for a '69 Camaro:

^^those are very nice, imo far more pleasant on the eyes than a speedo and a quad guage.

How about something from Dakota Digital like this? They come in diffrent color and background combinations
I am running a 1 off set in my project. I would show some pics but you will have to wait for SEMA for those pictures.

I have the Dakota Digital VHX gauges in my 67 and so far I'm fairly impressed with them. You can also add on modules like fuel pressure to display in the digital screen.
