Saw this picture of the new Gen V LSX engine. I would expect more information on it in the next few months. Its a 10 year old design that I am very familier with, lets see how much you guys can pick up on though:

It's got a truck intake on it? lol...
The direct injection look interesting but I'd like to see one in person. What is that pulley down low? PS or oiling? Thx for posting James!

could be the fuel pump lo to hi pressure
The General Motors Co. Tonawanda Engine Plant has two new lines up and running, work is under way to clear out more room for them, as well as for a third line of V8 engines (Gen V) that will debut there in 2013.
Thats Steve Finch, manager of General Motors Co. of Tonawanda Engine Plant, he's showing a V8 engine that the plant will produce in first quarter 2013. where employees are trained to build the new engine that will be used in light-duty pickup trucks

I see extra hardware on the valve covers, which are probably for the injectors. The belt driven thing is probably a fuel pump.

No overhead cams yet? Dang. Oh well, I'm sure the power numbers will keep rising regardless.

That big pump pulley is going to get in the way of a lot of swaps.

I wonder if a set of Gen3/4 heads will bolt on to that block? For those that don't want to screw around with the DI.

it almost looks like there is holes the the exhaust manifolds for a sensor of some type. i hope they are going to be running a wideband setup on them now.

Running 8 widebands with the ability to adjust the fuel at each cylinder would certainly increase power and fuel economy.

I can't believe no one picked up on it.... direct injection.

Thought that was common knowledge.

What thread are you reading? It's mentioned multiple times...

The thermostat appears to have been moved.
The runners on the intake appear to have a larger cross section and more length.
The holes in the exhaust manifolds could be for air injection, although I would think the lines would be installed before the engine left the engine plant. I think Andrew's guess is closer to the truth.
That pump on the lower left of the engine is just begging to be damaged somewhere on the line. I would have thought they would have tucked it in a little tighter. Maybe after they get tired of replacing them.
