Hi Guys,
Iam restoring my 1975 Ford Cortina and had paint stripped the roof to discover this. The car has a fair bit of fairly heavy surface rust. Any suggestions on how to fix this, what rust converter product to use?

I've tried the POR-15 rust convertor, which is called Metal Ready. I would imagine most would do the job you want.
I use products from this company, called The Safest Rust Remover (http://www.safestrustremover.com/) the stuff is great I haved saved a lot of parts I couldnt replace

I call Metal Ready a rust "remover". It will remove surface rust as you have it on your roof. I would build a little dam around the rust and pour the MR directly on it. Let it soak for a while then work it in with a small wire brush. Scrub the whole area with some maroon scotchbrite, you will be amazed with the results. AND WEAR RUBBER GLOVES!!!
