Hi guys,
I have a 1961 Buick LeSabre I'm trying to turn pro-touring style.
I've been trying to upgrade my drum brakes to disc but there are no parts made for this car.
Can anyone recommend a fabricator who can make me a custom bracket so I can mount a 6 piston Wilwood caliper to my antique style rear steer spindle?
Thanks!

Beautiful ride you have there. I am not aware of any pros that are taking on this kind of work at the moment, but I sure don't know them all. However there are a lot of hobbyist (such as myself) that would be happy to help you design a bracket. Do you have any pictures of your spindle?
The good news is Wilwood calipers are typically easy to design brackets for. My Brembos on the other hand were a pain. Which exact Wilwood caliper were you looking at?

You could probably just take your car to a machine shop and have them measure everything and cut you some brackets. I know the machine shop I work at does disc brake kits for ATV's and Rhinos and stuff like that. Doesn't seem like it'd be hard to do.

Hey Guys.
Since my car was built before '64, there are no matching parts off the GM catalog for it.
The spindles are rear steer. Measure 9" from top ball joint to bottom ball joint and 6" from center to steering arm.
I wanted to go with a set of Brembo's since I have a friend who distributes them and can get me a deal but I have read they are hard to mount like you said jpgolf14.
So it looks like for simplicity sake the 6 piston Willwoods will do. I also want at least a 13" rotor to match.
My spindles look exactly like the ones in this article.

I plan on calling SSBC during the week to see if they still have this kit available.
I would also like to find someone who knows how to convert disc brakes and work on cars. Not just a fabricator since we will have to mount a aftermarket rotor to the stock spindle, I'm not sure what size bearings will be need and other miscellaneous stuff like a new booster and master cylinders. I don't have the tools or knowledge to do the work myself.
If you guys have any more suggestions please keep them coming.
BTW- I have called braketechsolutions.com but their customer service is horrible. I do not wish to deal with them.
It would be nice to find someone local since I don't have a lift or know of any mechanics that will leave my car on their lift for the 10 days or so it takes to get my spindles back from across the country.
Thanks.

I could make you brackets but I need the spindle and caliper to make it.this will start to add up, to the fact you want custom brackets and work performed on your car,you also may need new wheels for these brakes research it.looks like you live in a home with a garage .we could do the work at your home?pm me what your budget is for this job and see what i can do for you.phil
