Even more Vintage Air Gen IV questions...

I am preparing to buy the pieces to put A/C in my 68 Camaro but I have a few very specific questions that I hope someone can answer:

      1. I want the 3 dial controller - is it possible to buy the V/A system with just the 3 dial controller and not get the adapters for the slider control?
      2. I saw the video on the 48 Hr Camaro where they used new quick install hoses that don't require anything special other than crimp pliers. Does anyone have any info or opinion on these new hoses? Does the o-ring seal/crimp clamp last as long as the traditional serrated ferrule and crimp collar?
      3. Does Vintage Air or Detroit Speed make a custom cut panel to fit the new 3 dial control? I don't have the tools or the skills needed to fab a panel so I need some help here. Suggestions?

Also I'm curious - what's the opinion of hiding the hoses over the fender well vs being out in the open? I like the hidden look but don't like the mass of hoses that run between the well and fender where the battery mount normally is on a Camaro.

Thanks for the input and suggestions!

      1. yes you can upgrade to the 3 knob controller but it is extra

      2. I assume your referring to the ez-clip hoses? They have been around awhile and work great, also extra cost

      3. yes, DSE has a adpater plate to locate the 3 knob controller in the factory location p/n 011005T

      4. For me it depends on compressor location as to where I run them. If it is a high mount compressor, I will run them in the engine bay as clean as possible. If it is a low mount compressor, I will hide them behind the fender which makes them easier to route.

      Hi Mike,

Yes, I am referring to the EZ-Clip hoses. If they're a lot more it might be cheaper to buy a hose crimping kit rather than the EZ-Clip hoses (IMHO). I'd be using the LSx bracket for my car so I'm assuming it is a high mount bracket.

The EZ clip hoses run roughly double the crimp style in price. They work well.

Most places charge $5-8 per crimp for the old style.

Either way, can't go wrong with VA!
