Greetings Everyone,

I am currently building a 69 Mach 1 G-Machine and I thought I would share with you the progress I am making on it. The car has spent its last 3 years as a show car in California. However, as you all know an all original car all though may look nice does not drive very well in these modern times. I thought I would give the 69 an overhaul and give it the power, handling and drivability it deserves to go with it's flawless looks.

The roll cage and the motor are ready to rock. Finishing up the rear suspension and then starting on the front suspension and paint work.

Well, anything that spins is going to spin up faster if it's lighter (less mass to accelerate)....so if you've got an engine that loves to rev, everything you can do to lighten the rotating mass is a benefit.
In your case....I'd probably be leaning to a quality alloy unit.

My own choice was steel....based on the use of my car, and its a big cube Pontiac....its not built to rev past 5500 rpm.

Good call! I have a hydraulic cam in mine which is great up to about 6500 then dies off. The motor is a pure torque motor but not necessarily all about top speed. I don't plan on reving to the moon on the street so I would like a driveshaft that does saves weight but is durable enough for the street as well.

Thanks for the comments. House of Kolors makes some badass colors but none better then Tangelo Pearl! The car has 6 1/2 weeks to be complete. This will be fun!

I know what wheels I will be running by tires is another thing. I need a set that will glue to the road like never before. Their are so many good tire manufactures out their and they all seem to have pros and cons to their tires. I would like to know what brand tires you guys like the most and why. Nitto, BF Goodrich & Bridgestones all seem legit so any input would be great.

Thanks'

Wow this car is looking great already, is that last picture the gas cap? If so, I definitely have gas cap envy haha!

Yeah, that Tangelo Pearl HOK is an awesome colour!
Tyres??? I like Nitto, good price vs a good tyre...nice balance between cost and quality. I've bought Invo's for mine, but its being built as a road car. I had NT450's on my previous T/A and thought they were a very good tyre...the Invo is supposed to be a step up.
If you like to AutoX or Track run your car, you might want to be looking at something softer again, though.

Thanks much for the comments. It sure is the gas cap. All of the chrome trim has been treated to a satin black finish to give the car that all out menacing look. The radiator, radiator cap and catch camn were also powder coated as well. It took over 30 hours of powder coating to get the cap and catch can logos to come out just right. Their is 6 diffrent colors of blues used in the logo just like in the real Be Cool logo!

Their has been a lot of people pushing me towards Nitto so thanks for the info! Great project by the way!

Thanks! I love the transam style mustangs and I am taking many cues from their designes, tweaking them a bit to fit my tastes and incorperating them onto my car. I can't wait to share all the progress we will be making in the next 2 weeks......simply amazing!!

Crown Vics have aluminum stock so sourcing one shouldn't be a problem. They are one-piece as well. They should be available at the junk yards in California. The draw back is that they are generally larger in diameter potentially interfering with exhaust and other components. Reducing drivetrain weight is always a benefit, at least in a street car. I was going to put one in my '73 Duster, but the clearances are too tight with the extra diameter.

Good info, we are going to have to modify the exhaust anyway because of the unique rear end setup so clearances should not be an issue since were doing a lot of modifying. Thanks!

Lenax windows......anyone have them? Worth the price?

Is that like transparent aluminum?

Is that like transparent aluminum?

Not 100% sure.....I think its a type of polycarbonate material thats 50% lighter than traditional glass and will not shatter under a roll over. Speedglass sells Lenax windows but they are on the pricey side!

After much debate, I decided to totally delete the back seat from the car because I want to keep her on a diet! Orlando Cantu, (My shop guy) is building this awesome rear seat brace that ties into the sub-frame connecter system!
