Well I have 315/30's on an 18x10 if that helps you out at all. It fits just fine and I like a little sidewall bulge anyways. Here is a pic to show

305 is tire section width in mm. 305 / 25.4 = 12" wide. Seems way too big to me for a 9.5" rim.. Typically a 9-9.5" rim will be around a 255, 275. 10" around 275, 285, 11" around 295, 305 & 12+'s 315, 335..etc

Check with the tire manufacture recommended rim widths. Too much Bulge in the sidewall will allow the rim to flop from side to side giving poor handling characteristics.

I run 335 Toyo R888's on 12.5's an the side wall is flat. Michelin 335's pulled in a little. 10" front I'm currently running 285/30/18's but since they are a little too short for my taste(and warn) I'm going to replace with a little taller 275/35/18's. Weird thing is the 275 measures almost the exact same width as the 285.

I have a 295 on a 9.5 rim and it looks perfect! I can't see 10mm being a big deal! It's only 3/8 to a 1/2 inch wider!

Hey Phil, took me a few days to get a chance to measure those for you but I got it. They are Hankook Ventus R-S2's and on my rims they measure in at exactly 25 inches tall, 12 inches wide and the tires contact patch is 10 inches wide. Hope that helps! I do however believe that they are no longer in production, I think they moved on to the R-S3's

Don't know which manufacture of tires, but they are all pretty close. Not that you can't, just suggesting you should stay within the manufacture recommendations. I'm sure some type of legal issues are tied if something should happen to the tire. They can say, sorry, don't look at us, it's not on the recommended rim width.

examples;
Both Michelin PS2 & BFGoodrich KDW 295/35/18 recommend 10"-11.5" rim
