94-04 Cobra Calipers w/ LS1 rear rotors and a custom bracket?

Is this possible? I have looked all over the internet, but I haven't been able to find out if the rotor widths are compatible. The reason I would be curious to use the 94-04 Cobra rear calipers and abutments is because they have a built in parking brake into the caliper. Rather than the LS1 rear upgrade has a build in parking brake to the rotor. I recently bought the LS1 rear brake setup from the forum, but have since found out that I will have to buy another whole Left hand side to get around my staggered shocks without major modifications. My thought was if I could get some LS1 or similar rear rotors, and utilize the 94-04 Mustang rear calipers, I would be able to build some custom brackets to make my own rear disk kit with a parking brake build in. I know that these rear brakes will fit under a stock 15” rim, barely, so I know that they will fit under my 17” rims.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I can’t find any good info on the Mustang rear setups? I do know that the calipers are the same from 94-04 V6/GT/Cobra, the only difference is the cobra abutments have been widened to accept a vented rear disk, rather than the GT/V6 have a solid rear disk. Also the Cobra rear disk brake diameter is 11.65” or 296mm. I was unable to come up with a width though. I also know that the stock hydraboost on the GT/Cobra uses a 1" bore MC, which is the same diameter MC I currently have on my car.

      Thanks,
      Ryan

I'm pretty sure the Cobra rear rotor is 296mmx18mm [11.65" x .71"] with a caliper to match, and is therefore not compatible with the wider 26mm [1.02"] thick 98-02 LS1 F-body rear rotor.

I searched around and found that the 05-06 GTO rear brakes are the same size as the Cobra rear brakes, the only problem is that it looks like they have a much larger backspacing? Possibly to have a rear brake drum inside it?

Backspacing is generally a term reserved specifically for wheels, however to answer your question, yes, the 05-06 GTO application uses a 190mm internal drum-in-hat parking brake.

What are you putting them on? If it is a GM application, just use an '88-93 F- body setup. They are PBR calipers, with a built in e- brake.
