Finally getting life back on track here from that last project that a few of you might remember about. Just started on a new project car about a month ago. A guy was moving out of town and had this camaro for sale super cheap. Body work was done and strait, just a really ugly paint job. New quarters, fenders, floor patches, and a cowl hood from a 69. Heres how it looked when I picked it up.

The guy had 2 pickup loads of parts for this thing, so after time sorting things out, everything needed for a little 350 was here. I ended up doing a budget build 355 with all of the nice looking parts to go along with it for now. Fabbed valve covers, march performance front drive. I cant find a picture right now with all of the pullies put on but heres where the motor is at now. LS setup would sure be nice. :smoke:

Had a 61" wide open diff, 12 bolt with some old school biggs and littles. I just placed the order for a brand spankin' new bolt in 9" from 9inchfactory.com. 55 5/16" hub to hub. 3.75 gears, aftermarket axles, ect.

Brakes all the way around will be drilled and slotted wilwood dynalight 12" disk setup. 2" drop spindles will go on first to see if it can get the ride height we want. If not, then it will be getting coil overs and most likely tubular A arms. Power booster/master cylinder.

Mono springs with cal-tracks is about it for the rears.

Painless wiring full 18 circuit.

As some of you have seen with the wheels. I did lots of research for the biggest tires i could fit. the 67-68 quarters are 1.25" narrower than the 69's. With an unmodified tub and quarters, the biggest to fit in the back is 18x9.5, 3.75" b/s with a 275/40/18. Fronts we went with a 18x8 with 5" b/s and 245/40/18. NT555 extremes all the way around.

Wheels just showed up yesterday.

I just placed the order for the RS grille conversion kit. DSE electric motors to open the headlight doors instead of all the bulky vacuum stuff.

Thats where the car is so far. 10 day wait on the rear end and 5 days till the grill conversion kit.

The paint job has been decided, but that may change before it gets sprayed. First it was black on black, then silver on black, Now its Burnished brown. A 69 specific color they used on the ZL1's. Black top, black interior, possibly black out the rear light panel, and the single flat or satin black bumble bee stripe in front.

The goal is to build this car with quality parts to last, something that you can get in, turn the key, and cruise. Tracking the car should even be a non issue. This should be a fairly quick project to finish and It will most likely be for sale when completed. If anyone is seriously interested, For the right price, It could be for sale now, then you can choose how the car gets finished.

I'll update as parts arrive.

Finally got the Camaro on all fours. Its now at our shop. It horribly needs a front end alignment, and we will probably end up getting 1" or 2" blocks to lower the rear a bit, but that will be after everything is finished and the full weight of the car is set.

Ordered the new wiring harness today. Tomorrow I will throw in the new booster assembly and make sure that clears the motor stuff. Then, I will slap on the front end grille conversion for test fit. Front RS valance needs to be fit, throw in the new wiring, all the little accessories, and make sure everything works, possibly even get it running before we rip it back all apart for paint.

We found a possible buyer and the color might change to Tangelo Orange from HOK. Waiting on a response from our estimate we sent him yesterday.

Got the motor/trans put in today, and we are thinking these 6 cylinder springs just may be a little too soft.

The rear shock location wont work as factory did, but still shouldn't be too much of an issue. When we get ride height set, I will weld in a bar going from frame rail to rail, then just weld on some tabs to hold a "custom" length shock off of the stock Caltrack mounts that are flipped inward.

and for the peektars
