If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have no luck at all. Engine is back in (the first time the hooker "stock" location plates wouldn't allow me to mount the engine as the heads made contact with the firewall), harness is finally back and installed, booster is in and I thought I was about to put the headers in. That's when my buddy noticed the oil pan was making contact with the frame. I used the 1.5" forward plates. The oil pan had a bit of clearance when I first installed it but it seems to have settled. Maybe I just thought I had clearance. Either way, holley said the plates worked with the oil pan. So here's the question: Can I make 3/8ths plates to sit under the motor stands or are there taller stands than the regular sbc stands used in the 68 camaro that would work or that I should be using?
thanks

I had this same problem with mounts that put the motor in stock location. I used thick grade 8 washers under the frame stands, and lightly dimpled a high spot on the crossmember where the pan was touching. Had same problem on my buddy's car. I would think the 3/8 plates would be fine. On both our cars, the driver's side frame stand was shorter than passenger side by about 1/4" (mounting surface to center of bolt hole). I couldnt find any taller stands. Scott

That's wierd that the DS frame stand is shorter. That's where its hitting on mine. I'm going to dimple the crap out of the frame there and use plates on both sides.
thanks
