I am working on a '79 malibu and have been gathering parts to put the c5 rotor/calipers on it. I have the wheels already which are a 17" steel wheel with dog dish caps. I bought these wheels at a swapmeet and have not seen anyothers like it. The wheels use the stock gm center and then the rim(hoop) takes it from the stock center diameter to 17". I have not seen these wheels anywhere for sale I have checked with Stockdon Wheel, WheelSmith, and Early Wheel. I like the looks of these as they are hard to tell they are 17" with the smaller wheel center, however when I lay the rotor on the wheel surface I can just barely get my fingers between the rim and the rotor-so there is no way a caliper is going to fit in there. Are there any 12" rotors that have a deeper offet(to the center of the car)that I could use the c5 setup, I realize that I would need to move the caliper inward as well.

Sorry, I dont have any measurements as I am at work. But The stock g body rotor is alot deeper than what the c5's are.

thanks
Jason

Wheel Vintiques makes some 17" wheels like that. I just ordered a set of 17" rally wheels from them.

Hey Jason, love the look you're going after. Spacers may be a good choice here; will they work in your application? It looks like you have enough wheel-fender clearance. How about your wheel stud length? kore3.com has brake clearance templates for the C5's, where they should tell you what they recommend for caliper-to-wheel clearance.

After some quick measuring I would need to have a spacer with a minimum of one inch. I have the car lowered about three inches and I will have fender rubbing if I go that far. I might do some checking on wildwood's site to see if I can come up with a hub rotor combo. I might try c4 rotors and see if that gets me any closer. I believe they are 12" rather than 13"

You can get C4 HD rotors which are 13 inch, the offset is different and they are not quite as thick as the C5s. They require an offset adapter which I think speedtech still sells.
