Working on some new interior ideas for my Chevelle

I plan on doing a lot of the interior in my Chevelle on my own so I have been working on some design plans. I wanted to post what I have come up with so far and get some opinions or some new design ideas. So please share your thoughts and ideas.

I am thinking the second design in this picture:

Here is a rough amateur 3D model I made in Google Sketchup:

Here is another version I have been debating on that I did in Photoshop:

I want to use a black leather or vinyl and then I was thinking a nice grey colored micro suede to compliment my car.

This is the package tray I am planning to use, it's from the Shop, LLC but in black vinyl/leather:

At this point I have decided to go with the Corbeau GTS II seat but that still may change depending on what I come across over the next few months:

As far as the dash goes I am waiting to see what another member Zipsimmons comes up with as he is currently working on a new dash concept.

Finally as a reference here is what my car looks like to date:

So let me know what you think, I'd be glad to hear

You have some great ideas for an awesome looking car!!

Having said that, here's a reality check.....easy to design things, but much tougher to execute the design by building it. Ask me how I know!!

      https://www.pro-touring.com/showthre...or-Panel-Build

The more complicated your design, the more difficult to make the panels. I base that statement on the fact that you didn't indicate that you have done this type of work before. You can do a lot of practice ahead of time to develop some skills. And believe me, I am not in any way trying to talk you out of attempting this, as I was in your position before I jumped into this project too! I'm just trying to ground you, and give you fair warning. There is a very good reason that great interior guys like Tracy Weaver http://www.recoveryroomrodinteriors.com/main.html (a member here) get paid big $$ to produce mind blowing custom interiors. Number 1 they have access to the correct tools, materials, etc and number 2 ........ they have MAD SKILLS!!!

There are many people on this site, Tracy included that will not hesitate to help and give good advice.

I'll gladly share my experience with you and please post any progress pics ...... oh, and THANKS for the GOOGLE SketchUp mention, I had not heard of it and downloaded it!!

Thanks for the advice, I've seen your write ups they were really helpful. I know it is an ambitious project but I have time and patience to work at it. I already have all the original interior items so if it doesn't turn out how I want I can just swap it out. As for experience, I don't any professional experience but I have already reupholstered two sets of seats and have done a lot of vinyl wrapping of various car parts.

I plan on doing a full well documented write up when I actually begin. As for now it is a waiting game because I'm two months from graduating college and live away from the car so I get wrestles and ambitious when I'm away from the car.

I know what I do won't be close to the quality of guys like Tracy Weaver but it is great to have an environment hear to draw so much inspiration and knowledge from.

Here are some pics of what I've done using the 3M Di-Noc carbon fiber vinyl:

I don't really have the use or talent for an expensive 3D modeling software so I've been very happy with Google Sketchup for just messing around.

I'm curious to know how the 3M Di-Noc carbon fiber vinyl hold up in the engine compartment with heat and oil/grease. How's it looking now? I was bummed to see that what is basically 'contact paper/vinyl' the price wasn't too far from buying the materials to actually carbon fiber some of these items.

The vinyl is actually holding up surprisingly well. There are a few areas that lifted where the material was really stretched but I checked after the first drive with engine heat and just laid it back down. Honestly if I would have had the skills and the space to use real carbon fiber at the time I would have.
