69 camaro hydroboost/c5 front and ls1 rear, what master ?

Just like the title says. I have c5 stuff in the front and ls 1 in the rear. I got an astro van hydroboost. And now I am in need of the knowledge of this forum for a master cylinder to buy. I know we are talking a 1.125 size wise but anyone have some specific knowledge of one that works. Preferably a modern style plastic tank and aluminum body. Any help would be greatly appreciated. As I need to buy something. Thanks

I used the C5 1998-2004 Corvette master with C5 fronts and rears, works great.

      But isn't that a 1" Master Cylinder?

I have read so much on this subject and I'm just dizzy. If that is a 1" is that better than a 1.125" on a hydroboost setup. Pete68 what booster are you running?

GM hydroboost + 1" bore MC = brake pedal like a light switch. The Mustang hydro units used 1" bore master cylinders with PBR brake calipers, however those use a vertical MC stud orientation and have much lower boost ratios, so that doesnt' really pertain here. 99% of everybody I know that runs hydro with aftermarket brakes is running a 1.125" bore master cylinder.

Thanks Tobin. Do you know the best to get that would be oem, like what year cars? Btw those brackets I bought from you are just plain awesome. There is something so sexy(not in a weird way) about well engineered parts on an old car. Thanks

Correspondence from Paul @ Hydratech pasted below (Asked in reference to C5 fronts with undetermined rear disc brakes):

Hi Nick - I'd go for either the 1" or the 1 1/8" MC. The 1 1/8" will give you an ever so slightly firmer pedal as compared to the 1" version, though either will do splendidly (hard to tell the difference in back to back swap outs between the two sizes). If you need further info, please either call or e-mail, as I don't log in much on the forums (won't see your PM for who knows how long)...

I was going to do a newer Chevy truck hydroboost setup, there is a bunch of information on these swaps. Looks like the 6 lug trucks have 1.125 and the 8 lugs have 1.25. Several guys have said they are picking up the newer style at yards for under $100. You can also buy a remau Cardone setup for pretty cheap also... here's a link. I searched for that Cardone part number, they are cheap, good luck.

The fullsize trucks have a larger tank design, I am looking for something a little lower profile. Someone has to have tackled this already. Anyone have a part#? Thanks

I used one off a 2005 Trail Blazer and it works perfect and has a straight tank like you want. It is bolted to a hydraboost I removed from a 2007 k2500 truck.

Buy one from Hydratech. He'll sell you the correct disc/disc MC with no RPV's and in a 1 1/8" bore. Your brakes will be absolutely killer.

Just wanted to kick in my .02. I used a 1" bore on my Chevelle and the brakes would lock up severly under panic stops. I got ready to switch over to a 1 1/8" DORMAN M390259 Brake Master Cylinder. Then I swapped over to an LT1 engine and guess what? The brakes work GREAT now! It turns out the PS pump I was using on my 283 had too much pressure. The LT1 pump is just right for it. So now I'm gonna switch over to a C5 MC since it looks more modern than my cast iron 1" MC. The only hassle is finding the correct fittings for it but I think I got it covered. Overall I would have to say the 1" works fine. I used a 1" MC on 2 hydraboost conversions I did for some friends and they stop fine with no lockup. HTH.

What did you end up going with?

I'd like the modern style master if possible but won't sacrifice the looks for performance or ease of installation lol.
The Hydratech unit seems to be a dead lock correct?

      Thanks,

      Donnie

Also, How are you guys getting your lines to mate up to the older style steering box? (68 Camaro)
