I currently have a th4oo in my 66 Chevelle and am upgrading to a 4l80e. I have a mega shifter that works well so I don't want to replace it if I don't have to.
I was talking with a couple people at the Chicago World of Wheels today and on suggested "Pulling the Pin" on the shifter linkage will give me the movement I need to get down to 1st gear.
What say you...
Also, with the new trans comes the electronics. I was told TCI is making a pretty nice piece without the use of a laptop. Any suggestions there will be appreciated.

B&M sells a 4L80E retrofit kit that helps a bunch #75498. I don't think that includes a 4 gear indicator lens. Also, the kit is really designed for 700R4's and 4L60Es. The detent spacing is a little different for 80's. A good idea is to have a buddy in the car moving the shifter to each gear position while another person underneath adjusts the cable for best result.

As for controllers they all get the job done, but expect the best tech support and service from the companies that represent here. You'll be way happier on the end.
