Alcantara or UltraSuede Headliner in 1st Gen Camaro

Has anyone installed an Alcantara or ultrasuede headliner in a 1969 camaro? My E55 had the Alcantara headliner and I really like it. I think it would looking cool in the 69. Just wondering if anyone has done this and if anyone knows how much it would cost...

      Thanks
      Dan

The Alcantara has the advantage of being UV resistant so it won't fade. Not sure if that matters as much on a headliner, but if you're going to do the dash or door panels, it would be important. The stuff is not cheap though, it's imported and I've only seen one company you can get it from unless an upholstery shop can get it for you.

I have an Alcantara headliner in my 69 Camaro. I bought the material through Gulf Fabrics in Florida, it was about $100 a yard for the panel weight and slightly more for the Seat weight.

I would say if you can get it exactly right the 1st time, it's worth it. Beautiful stuff. Too bad the aftermarket hasn't caught on to the market for this stuff in older cars. I'd love to cover my dash, rear deck, and headliner in it. I just don't have the skills and would waste tons of it experimenting.

Definitely do the Alcantara. I did my headliner pieces in another suede similar to ultra suede and it faded pretty bad. Most of it turned purple and some spots even turned white from sun exposure. Im re-doing it in Alcantara from Gulf fabrics now.
