Hopefully this is the best related forum for this somewhat stupid question..
I just ordered digi tails for my lark and got the whole kit and kaboodle like dome, reverse, flashers, and side markers..

I ordered amber leds for the front yellow reflector side markers..

What color led should I order for the rear "Red" reflector sidemarkers?

Should i use the amber led s or the red leds?

figure red on red would be more true but amber reflecting through red reflector may be more bright?

To be LEGAL, vehicles are required to have:

White or Amber in FRONT (Front bumper & Fender side marker lights)

RED for REAR (Rear bumper & 1/4 panel side marker lights), for Brakes & REAR Turn Signals.

Not worth paying a ticket for having "illegal lights", if they really want to!

I should mention that I'm working with another board member here, to make '70-'72 Skylark/GS taillights to offer a better priced/better quality option than the DigiTails (who currently have no competition, as the ONLY ones available at this time for this specific application). It's always good to have options available!

yea i got amber for front side marker
just simply wasnt sure if it mattered for rear side weather it was red or amber due to the reflector being red

and I just purchased digi tails for my 72 lark (189 free shipping)
and I seen that post about the guy you talkin about(JMitch19) ???..if he could do digital sidemarker set that'd be sweet
or do the fronts faster then digi-tails/spaghetti engineering that'd be great too

Red will show up better behind the red lenses. Our new charger police cars have red leds in the tail light panels and look amazing!

That's the plan, as we've been in communication/discussion/planning for the taillights/F&R side markers/F bumper markers, if we can get 10 orders (@ $160, ea.) to build working prototypes, to start with, as I'm trying to get each of the lens assemblies ('70/'71/'72) for dimensions & testing, sent to him.

The new LED system would include sequential red turn signals & white LED reverse lights, as a 1 piece taillight assembly, unlike DigiTails 2 piece (reverse lights are separate).

I'm excited, either way, just to be part of helping more Buick products to get recognized & made available, than we've ever had in the past 40 years!

it is indeed cool to getting something out or have a helping in getting osmething made for something you have passion for when your simply just a local car enthusiest and not a company!

The sooner I can get 10 orders from other Buick guys to commit, the sooner JMitch19 (Jason) can order the Printed Circuit Boards & LED components, so I can send him the taillight assemblies to him for dimensions/fitting/testing.

He informed me that they could start shipping as soon as April/May ('12), IF we can get started on them, NOW!

Could you possibly help with communication/discussion within the Buick community, to gauge interest?

I'm a little hesitant, because I don't want them to get the wrong impression, to come across like we're trying to "steal" business away from DigiTails; as we only want to offer a 2nd option of LED taillights (and front & side markers, if we can make full sets, too) for the '70-'72 Skylark/GS cars, that we believe we may be able to improve on DigiTails' design (NOT by stealing their product; as they offer a 2 piece LED board, with separate reverse lights. The difference is that ours would include the reverse lights in the same LED board!).

Looking forward to see yours come together, too!

it'll be kind of hard as we needed 20 people to commit for spaghetti engineering to do the 70-72 skylarks which just been released this past week.
If I would of knew about jason prior to 11-30-10 I would of went through him instead
but perhaps we'll do fronts and sidemarkers through him next time round

When using LEDs it's "almost" a MUST to use the same color bulb as the lense it will shine through. LEDs emit light differently than regular lights. The color absorbtion is very different.

^ Agreed.

White through red lenses = pink
Red through red lenses = the best option.
