      opinions on Percy's wheelrite

April's PHR has an article about fitting custom wheels and they used the wheelrite from Percy's and another thing called the wheel fit from Wheel Works. Percy's is only $80 and the Wheel Works thing is 4x's more. I can't see myself buying the $320 wheel measuring tool when it seems like the $80 one will do basically the same thing. Anyone use either of these to measure wheels or did you just do it the old fashioned way with rulers and tapes?

I have the plastic one. It is ok but the backspacing is very limited!

I bought the Percy one but didn't like it. Then I found a local shop that loaned me used wheels with bald tires (17/18 x 7, 7.5 & 8) to try with an assortment of spacers. I couldn't drive out of my driveway with the spacers, BUT it was great being able to put the wieght of the car on the suspension and see where things were tight. I used a camera up in the wheel well to see where things were rubbng.
