temp and oil sending unit ? on LS1 swap

I am asking for a friend on this. LS1 swap into a 68 with aftermarket electrical gauges. The stock temp sending unit(coming from the head) has two outputs, presumably one to the computer and one to the stock gauges. Can the wire to the stock gauges be sent to the new aftermarket gauge? Same question for the oil pressure sending unit?
      Thanks.

I'm doing the same thing. I have Autometer gages... I was told I need to use autometers sending units.

I've spent a lot of time looking for an answer to this, and there's no clear answer. Gauge manufacturers match the guages to the sending units, so using a different sender with any particular gauge is a crap shoot. As tempted as I was to try using the factory senders, I ended up installing the gauge senders on my LS3.

I installed a temp sender on the rear of the passenger head (there's a plug there you unscrew), and used a T fitting on the oil pressure sender in back to run the old style sender. Street and Performance has the fittings.

I don't think that is a correct assumption. My understanding the CTS feeds the ECM and the gauges get info via bus from the ECM. At least in LS1 4th gens. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

You're not wrong. There is an OEM three wire CTS that will feed both the ECU and a guage.

      The answer is....
If you are running aftermarket gauges, you have to run the sender that matches the gauge and the sender for the PCM

One note that may help for the oil pressure. The assembly that routes flow if you don't have an oil cooler has a hole in the top that is the right size for npt thread to match the oil sending unit. You just have to drill through and thread it. It is an aluminum piece bolted to the drivers side right by the oil filter. So you can remove it to do the work and make sure no filings before you reinstall.

I used autometer senders for water & oil. One head has a plug in it with a allen head that can be removed.(LS1, not sure on LS2/3) You will need an adapter to thread into the head, then screw in the sensor. Autometer sells the adapter. I also used the boss obove the oil filter as mentioned above. Drill it out & use 1/8" npt tap. I have also read where the stock LS1 oil pressure sensor can be removed (not needed) and that port can be used for the aftermarket sensor. Scott
