Can I mix brake kits?

As the title says can I mix brake kits. I know I can mix them, but what I want to know is if their is any down sides to mixing them. I want to buy the zo6 front brake kit for Kore 3 and the Baer iron sport kit for the rear which I would get through sc & c. I know they are individually they are both quality products, I just want to know if they would work good together.

Also which master cylinder should I run if I want to use these brake kits? Could I possibly retain my stock master cylinder and booster?

Why would you want a mis-matched set of brakes?

Price. The zo6 rears with parking brakes are around $1600 and the baer are a lot cheaper. I figure the rear brakes don't need to be a big because the front does around 60% of the stopping anyway.

Yes, you can mix and match brake kits, however balance is balance, so you can't just mix and match kits all willy-nilly and assume they will work well together. Ideally, if you're going to run C6 Z06 front brakes, you would run something that closely matches the C6 Z06 rear brakes in terms of the overall brake torque and hydraulic requirements so that you can maintain the front to rear balance inherent to the OE C6 Z06 components.

The C6 Z06 rear calipers have (4) 30mm [1.181"] diameter pistons, so the effective piston area is 1413mm^2 [2.19 in^2]. Rear rotor diameter is 340mm [13.4"] with an approximate effective torque arm length of 146mm [5.75"] to the centerline of the pad from the axis of rotation. If you increase the piston area of the caliper, you can reduce the rotor diameter by the same ratio and still achieve similar brake torques. Pad compound is the last major variable, and you can either run the same front and rear or stagger the compounds if it gets you to where you need to be at the price point you want.

Ok, I think I get what you saying Tobin. Are you saying I can make this work if I use different pads?

Yes, I believe that you can make it work and it may not even need different pads, but that will depend on the pads that are included with the kit.
