Transmission fluid flow ? input,output

I have a 2004r in my 67 camaro and i am redoing trans lines to cooler. Is the lower fitting on the trans the output and the upper the input?
Should the output go to the lower fitting on the rad. tank and out the top to the external cooler then return to the upper fitting on the trans?

I believe the 200 4R cooling lines are backwards from a 700R4. The bottom line is the input and the upper is the output. Going by your line description it sounds like you have it hooked up right, upper fitting on trans is output to upper cooler fitting and lower cooler fitting is returning to lower trans fitting...

So, if i'm understanding correctly, the top on the trans is the output going to the bottom of radiator, then out the top of rad. to the external cooler and return to the bottom of trans.
Is this right? Thanks Mark
