      17" or 18" wheels

I was looking into getting a set of Vintage Wheel Works V40's for my 66 Chevelle and wanted to get an opinion on weather to get the 17" or the 18" wheels.
      Thanks

Yeah 18's. More brake options if you decide to go with bigger brakes.

I vote 18's. I was in the same spot with my Skylark then I went with C5 brakes and decided 18's to make sure I don't have any trouble.

I like the look of 17's since they give you a bit more sidewall for any given tire diameter, but the tire selection sucks compared to 18's. Other than that it's give and take. You can fit bigger brakes in an 18" wheel, the tire selection is WAY larger, and they may have higher ultimate skidpad numbers. 17's will have a bit more forward bite due to sidewall flex and be more forgiving at their cornering limits, as well as being a bit better on bumpy roads.

look at tommycomfort's car. he started with 17s and is now running 18 on his car. i think 18" is the way to go or you will want to move up to them later.

Thanks for all the info and opinions. It's all good and will start looking more in the 18" range.
Tommycomfort is one of my idols here but you, "rallystyle" are an example of never sleeping when it comes to performance advice.
