Finally Pulled The Trigger - THE PICS ARE UP!!!!!!! First Post.

      Car is a 76 T/A

Well, I decided to finally pull the trigger. For 6 months I have been thinking about getting Year one's 17x9 gold snowflakes and 275/40/17s all around. Well, I finally did it. After so much research, and seeing so many pictures of how it looks on peoples' cars and how much I like it, I decided to finally do it.

      I bought

      4 pack of 17x9 Gold cast snowflakes(Part Number SFW179S)- $908.18 from YearOne(Sales code exempt, *******s), Final Price.
Kumho Ecsta ASX's 275/40/17(we have the on our two new cars, and we really like them. Fantastic in dry weather, and also great in the wet.) - $598.68 for 4 from TireRack, Final Price.

      Total: $1500ish.

I'm a 22 year old kid in college, and my Dad thought that this is kind of a stupid thing to do now, but, this is something that I've wanted for a very long time, and is one of the only things I can do to the car to improve its handling performance any more. The guy behind the wheel is already extremely bad ass(Ha!).

So, in a couple weeks when I have them on. I'll do a Before and After pic.

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...m/IMAG0280.jpg

Tires came in. TireRack is damn fast.

Here's the pics of the Rims. They just got shipped tonight.

      UPDATE!!!!!!!!
Everything is together. Got the tires mounted and balanced at Big O Tires in Livermore, CA. It was super easy for them to do. Each tire took just a couple weights. 275/40/17 on a 17x9 is the biggest you can go on that rim size, but is still super easy for them to put on. The machine had no problem whatsoever.

      Before

As you can see, somehow the 25.7" tall Kumhos barely affected the ride height, if at all, of the car from the 27.1" BFG radial T/As I had on there before.

Also, No RUBS! Some way, it doesn't rub at all. But, I also have my fronts rolled and the bolts for the inner fender put elsewhere. I also painted the roof and rear quarters with some flat black Rustoleum just to protect it and make it look a bit better.
There's a guy with a 79 T/A in my building, but my car is definitely the meanest looking car I've seen here on campus so far.

Ever since I got my Nova 10 years ago when I was 15 my dad thought everything I did to it was stupid. Something about wasting money or stuff. It got to the point where I enjoyed making him mad. Lol. Make sure to get some pics for us when they come in.

If it weren't for stupid things, I'd never do anything! Seriously though, I'm torn between keeping mine stock looking with the YO snowflakes or going with something a little different. Maybe someday I'll decide.

I went through the same thing with my Dad at that age too...now I'm 36 with 2 kids and he still gives me grief! Yet, I grew up in a 71 240Z (1st new car my folks bought after they got married) and later a 70 Trans Am...and he wonders why I'm such a gear head! LOL
Can't wait to see some pics!

Some of my best memories are of my Dad and I bolting on parts that were a financially dumb idea for me to buy at the time. While he would remind me that this was not a great idea for a poor college student to buy speed parts, it never stopped him from dialing them in for me.

I really like the look of those wheels on the TA. Be sure to post the before and after pictures.

Well, he came home and saw the stack of tires. He then freaked out for a second, then I told him the cost, and he was like Okay. Now I gotta find a place for the old tires. Now everything is okay.

I got the YO 17x9 Honeycombs for my project....great wheels, I don't think you can beat them for the price. I put Nitto INVOs on them.
Toss up a pic when you get them on the car!

I will. I'm going to do a series of pics of the Rims in their boxes when they come, then what they look like in the box, then Before and After.

Y'alls parents weren't creative enough. If I had money left over to spend on "stupid" stuff for the car, they would just make me start paying a new bill. They tought me how to save and spend wisely though, but sometimes, you just have to get some "stupid" car parts because you work hard for your money and it puts a smile on your face every time you look at the car. Good looking wheels.
