looking to delete the heater core, blower etc, but in my neck of the woods, there is no way to do without.
is there an option that is straight electric?
I don't need to keep it warm in -20, but just defrost when it is needed.
Thanks

keep your heater man you'll be glad you did. most race cars keep the heat for when it rains and things get all foggy.

Look to the street rod guys. I know someone has an electric set up that is compact. HTH,

This is not electric, but pretty compact. If you truly want electric, you may find something designed to go in sleeper cabs for semi trucks, so I've heard...

I suppose I could use one of those compact set-ups and reroute the heater hose down along the frame.
It's more to clean up the engine bay, trying to tidy it up from what it is now
Thanks for the replies

A number of diesel passenger cars use an electric heater to supplement the water heater core. Be careful- they suck up a HUGE amount of current. The cores (known as PTC's) consume about 1000 W, or 80 amps, when all three banks are 'all in.' Even then, they only produce about 15% of the heat that a water core does.

that's good info Twentyover...no free lunch huh?
Think I'm going to settle for the smaller Mojave heater and try to hide the hoses as best as I can.

I've found that driving nervously with your eyes on the mirror(s), with very active hands and feet, tends to keep the body temp reasonable...

something like this would likely work just fine to knock any condensation off the windows....and a healthy treatment of anitfog coating likely wouldn't hurt either

In Va, we have to keep the defrost/heater functional to pass the annual safety inspections. In my C3 the ductwork/baffles leaked so your feet would burn up in the Summer...I added a water valve to the hear hose to cut the hot water off in the Summer.

I ran a Mojave heater in my Pinto Wagon when the core took a crap. Got the add on for the defrosters too

I use a heatercraft system in my boat (hydronic) of course but i know they have several units.
Good luck with the mod.
