First, did the 69 Firebird come with 1 or 2 horns? I've only got one on the car I just bought and it sounds like my dog farting. It just has one wire going to a spade on it. What's the normal setup here? I will happily buy 2 new horns (of whatever OEM - BMW, etc.) and wire them up. I justn eed to know if 2 horns should be jumpered together or what. Thanks.

Pat is correct....69 Birds also use 2 horns (a high note and a low note). If it doesn't sound right, you probably have one or the other.

Both horns are wired to the same wire. The original harness had a single wire that went to the first spade connector, then came back out and went to a 2nd connector (Only about a foot long from what I remember).

You can get aftermarket Hi/Low horns from your local auto parts store (I got mine from Pep Boys). They run around $15-20 each and come with a short metal strap to allow you to mount them like the originals.

Thanks guys. That's just what I needed to know. I'll rig it up with a weatherpack connector to make it waterproof down there.

OK, I bought 2 Delco Remy horns off ebay. The one horn in there now is mounted in a little recess on one side through a large washer on the other side. Looks like it was made perfectly for it. However I don't see any similar mounting point or hole for the other horn. I can drill a hole, I just wanted to do this the correct way. Can someone take a picture or two up under there for me? I need to buy the body assembly manual, but I haven't yet. You could email the pictures to me [email protected] or post here. Thanks.

Also, when I hooked up one of the new horns, it sounded a little better, but still not even close to what a horn should sound like. I am thinking that the relay might not be getting enough current to the horns. Before I drop $70 on a new one, can anyone give their 2 cents on this?
