How difficult? 95 Fbody front brakes used as rears on 65 skylark.

Just an idea I have been thinking about since I have a C5 kit for the fronts. I have the entire front braking system from a LT1 fbody that I parted out and wanted to make use of it. I'm planning on 18in wheels so clearance isn't my worry. I'm just thinking about brackets and backspacing changes. If anyone has any ideas or insight I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

How difficult? Not very. How desirable? Not very. You can buy new calipers/pads/rotors for less than $100 on Rockauto.com. The only difference to your track width will be due to the slight difference between the hat thickness of your current drums and the LT1 slip-on rotors, so wheel backspacing changes shouldn't factor in unless your fitment is really close already. If you have the rear LT1 discs, now that would be a good candidate for the rear with C5/C6 front brakes, at least from a balance and performance perspective.

C5 front brakes have ~4 square inches of caliper piston area, so you're going to have an uphill battle getting the front LT1 calipers with 4.9 square inches of caliper piston area to balance with the fronts as you're well beyond what an adjustable proportioning valve can tune out. Unless you're planning on running dual master cylinders with a balance beam so that you can stagger the MC bores, I would prefer drums over the LT1 fronts in the rear.

Thanks for the input, Tobin. I'm using your front kit and had these laying around so I just wanted to see if I could use them. I'll try to sell them and get a rear disk setup from a lt1 fbody.

Heck dont forget you could also use the Blazer 98-up rear disc setup and get a p brakes too. Just remember to use proper parts all 2wd or all 4wd, only need odd setups if you have staggered shock like Fbodies.

I did not know that. I'll check into that cause I would like to have a parking brake. That blazer stuff will bolt up to my Buick's 8.2 rearend?
