9 inch front wheels on Firebird, possible ?

Does anyone tested to run 9 inch wide front wheels on a Firebird -68. My car has standard sub frame with GW ULC. I will change to AFX-spindel and I would like to have 9" wheels (VWW V40 or 48) with 5-5,5 BS. Tires should be Michelin PS2 255/40-17, is it possible?

Not positive but I've got one of the fronts off right now so when I get back to the shop tomorrow I'll measure it.

Looks like 5.5" bs. I haven't driven it much with these wheels on it but enough to know it's turns fine. They rub on the back of the subframe at full lock but even the 215s it had on it when I got it did that.
