Is it possible to convert a non-factory ac car to a factory ac car?

      The vents/dash setup, I mean.

I was looking at the Vintage Air kit for my Nova and the vent setup they have looks absolutely retarded. Sorry, but it does.

Why couldn't I just buy the kit for a factory car and cut the holes in the dash for the vents? I honestly don't see why that wouldn't work.

On most cars, including Novas, the actual firewall stamping is different for AC and non-AC cars (different size hole). I agree that most of the vents for aftermarket AC look like doo, and I never use them. Get the proper kit for your non-AC car, then use any integrated vents you want (stock type, for this model or another, or aftermarket).

Yeah that's what I meant. I looked at the installation instructions for ac and non-ac cars and saw differences, so I was thinking I'd just get the non-ac kit and just buy factory vents and cut the holes. Now the big question is, are the holes (or at least mounting points) for ac sill there in non-ac cars? Mainly the center vent, obviously the two outer vents aren't there, lol.

Depends on the car. On my second gen F body, the center outlets were part of the dash pad, so I bought a used A/C pad off ebay. For the driver's outboard vent, I found the vent from an explorer had roughly the correct contour, and used it.Passenger outboard I used the stupidly placed factory knee vent, because my wife doesn'tcare.
