Companies that can take an OE 13" wheel and make me custom 17" versions?

      I have an original 13" x 5.5" wheel I want someone to make a proportionally identical version in 17" x 9".

I see all these companies that offer 1-2-3 piece custom offsets etc. But no one, except Mike Curtis talks about doing 1-offs.

I searched but didn't find anything about 1-off companies.

      thanks

      Rob

I think EVOD does one-offs, but if I remember correctly, Mike Curtis was associated with them.

I have heard of companies like Intro, and Billet Specialties doing one off wheels for people in the past. I dont think that many companies do it because of the cost involved in doing it. But as mentioned, EVOD does alot of one offs.

You are talking BIG money to do what you are talking about. If its going to be a cast wheel they have to make a mold. A billet wheel takes the program and then lots of CNC machining. Tazz did a set of custom honeycomb wheels and he's a member here. You could contact him to get some info. If it cost him any less than $12,000 I'd be surprised.......and it might have been more.

Hydene's prices for a one-off is VERY reasonable. I'm still considering doing a set but it will have to come later in the build.

Im still listening... the car and 90% of the parts are paid for and done. $12,000 yeah not so much... but I am guessing there is a more "reasonable" option... I mean seriously... $500-1,000 a wheel for a set pair of hoops and a set center? give me a break....

I'm willing to cough up the last of the budget for these wheels... within reason.

Youre looking at $650 in materials for a 3 piece wheel. Then factor in CNC time actually machining(probably 4-6 hours per wheel) and time of the programmer designing the wheel and youll hit $8000 in a heartbeat. None of this is rocket science though, take classes in autocad, solidworks, and CNC machining, and then you can design your own and only be into it for $6000.

yeah estimates are coming in at the $5-7,500 range for a set of five(5) wheels so far. The design is actually pretty "popular" in terms of the fact the OE wheel is a lacy-spoke style design (think BBS style)

so might be looking at an off the shelf/semi-custom that I can work with... who knows.

Like I said above. I have 90% of the parts for the car either here or already on the car in its previous version. So this is more of a restoration/redirection than a full ground up build. Basically all I have left to decide is a fresh engine, figure out what I want to do for the fuel tank/cell, find some stock interior bits, and the wheels/tires. So the $$ doesn't scare me tooo much... but I'm having a hard time justifying $8,000 for 5 wheels.

We discussed this very topic on MustangII.net earlier this year: http://www.mustangii.net/forums/topi...TOPIC_ID=15702

If the price can be brought to something reasonable, I could be in for a set provided they can be made 17" X 9.5" and 11", 5 lug, custom BS and clear cobra brakes.

However, none of that sounds doable at a reasonable price (which means to me $1500 to $2000 for a set of 4) though...

Maybe we just need a center designed to fit existing 2 & 3 piece rims. I can do the design and modeling, but don't have a stock wheel to start with, no one seems to be selling : http://www.mustangii.net/forums/topi...TOPIC_ID=16095

Like you mentioned, they are a very popular wheel for the II, but the market would be very small for a 17" version.

Could you post a pic of the wheel style that you are looking for?
I am sure there are at least 5 aftermarket ones that will come really close to them.
Also what is the bolt pattern, and the backspace you are looking for?

Here is an example of a 1978 King Cobra wheel. The stock size is 13 x 5.5 with a 4 x 4.25 bolt pattern and 3ish" back spacing.

      I'd be looking for 17 x 8, 17 x 9.5, or 17 x 11 with a 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern and 3-1/2" to 5-1/2" BS depending on which width I went with.

I would be more than fine with a modern interpretation of the wheel as long as it captured the character of the original wheel.

Here are some 16x8, but the bolt pattern is 5 x 4 3/4"
      http://www.kirbanperformance.com/pro...9+%237219.html

Enkei made a 'Model 92', which came out a year before, and has a flat area around the lugs.
These are 16x8 w BFG Comp TA 255/50/16

Simmons OM also are close in design...
Boze has a few as well, custom sizing, no prob: http://www.bozeforged.com/wheels.html

Not sure any of these could fit: http://www.tsw.com/alloy_wheels.php
      Also some more at Bonspeed

Not what you were starting out looking for, but custom sizing available too:
