Help me select the right tire size...

Got 20" wheels for my 59 Chevy wagon. My LAST 59 had 20x9" rear wheels with a 255/35/20 tire on them. I liked the way the tire fit the wheel. I want my fronts and rears to have a similiar look/fit on the wheel of my new ones.
      New wheels-- front-20x8.5, rear-20x10

My initial thought was 245 in front and 275-285 in rear.... am I in the right ballpark? I'll most likely go 40 series..just for a bit more sidewall.

In looking around.. it looks like the 255 width was 10", so 1" wider than the wheel. That would mean I'de want a tire around 9.5" wide on front and 11" wide in rear, correct?
Main issue if finding companies that make both sizes like I want.
      I found General has a 245/40 and 275/40 combo...
      Nitto has a 245/40 and 295/35 combo...

      Any guidance appreciated.

If you have the room, I'd go with the 245/295 combo but if that's tight, the 245/275 will give nice sidewalls too.

i have a customer with a 59 wagon, and just ordered a set of wheels the other day. 18x7 and 18x10. 235/285 combo.

Out back the 285 fits great and the 295 might get tight. and the 245's will fit on the front with a 8" wheel.

Good to know... I was leaning towards the 295's. I'll put the wheels on the rear sans tires and see how much space I have.
Got an idea of the backspace on those 18x10's your customer has?

I'm at 5.5 backspacing on these. I'll just test fit the wheels first.
You go 35's or 40 series on those?
