68 Camaro Project Need helping figuring out wheels and suspension!

How's everyone doing? I recently got a 1968 camaro that is in really good shape and I'm wanting to do some suspension and wheel upgrades to it. I've done some research but I'm still unclear and haven't figured out what I want to do yet. Is the widest wheel size I can fit in the rear 8 inches without mini tubbing? I'm looking to do 17 inch rally wheels. I want to do a new steering rack, a arms, front suspension and rear. As well as doing the wheel upgrade. Any advice?

Give Frank at Prodigy Customs a call. He can not only help you with your project planning, he also has great prices on the stuff you will need.

      ...x2

With properly fit backspace of about 5.5", you can get a 9.5" wheel/275 tire in the rear. Make sure you measure carerfully and speak w Frank or one of the wheel vendors.

      Hey Starski,
Looks like you signed up in 2004? Guess that makes you a "long time listener, first time caller".

I have a 1968 Firebird so we have the same suspension. I just finished my car. Here's a short list of the major issues to address:
      Frame flex = subframe connectors
Soft springs and shocks = higher rate
Lack of negative camber gain = Guldstrand mod or tall spindles or new control arms
Control arm deflection = solid bushings or del-alum

      Good luck

you can fit 9.5 inch in the rear(without tubs), on your 1968 camaro, 9inch wide will never rub with the right rear spacing, heres whats on mine

      Front
      17x8 with 4.75" back space, 240/40/17
      Rear
      17x9.5 with 5.50 back space, 275/40/17

That looks nice! If I can fit that on with no tubbing I'm definitely down to take that route! what kind of suspension etc did you do?

Thanks for all the input. I actually didn't get a car to do anything pro touring related to until recently so I didn't really have any reason to post until now. I'm definitely doing some searching and apologize if I'm asking redundant questions.
