      Continental Extreme DW's

I needed some new tires and decided to try the Continentals. The tire rack reviews the last couple of years have had them in the 1 or 2 spot. In reading the reviews, it seemed that they were praised for ride comfort and low noise and described as not as responsive as other brands.

This seemed like the perfect tire for my TA as it was a little too responsive with the VBP and any improvement in ride is a good thing. I went with a 275/40/17 to replace the Goodyears of the same size.

I only got up to 60 and only about 5 miles, but the ride is noticeably better. I had the windows down so can't comment on noise. I only got it up to 60 as I was only running on 3 new tires. The fourth wheel had recently come off and while it balanced fine, the rear mounting surface is pretty chewed up. The new wheel will be here tomorrow and then I'll get a better feel for things.

So far the reviews seemed accurate--very good ride for a max performance tire and a little less responsive. Both are what I was looking for for my car.

I have them for winter tires on my daily driver '11 WRX. Best all season tires I've ever owned.

Suprised to hear you run them as a winter tire as they are rated as a max performance summer. I got the fourth wheel and tire mounted/balanced today, but didn't get around to getting it on the car. Should have it on tomorrow after work.

He probably meant the DWS as they are all-season. I have the DW on my DD and they work great.

Got the fourth one on today and love them. They were as advertised. The ride is great for such a stiff car and the noise was noticeably less--even with the windows down and the t tops out. I love how they got rid of some of the dartiness--the car has a real factory feel now. Can't beat the price either.
