I need help again....I have plans to install a LS1 into a Buick Regal. Now my original plans were to use a Corvette LS1. I have had alot of people tell me that the Corvette LS1 won't work in a Regal and that I have to use a Camaro, Firebird LS1. If this is true, what are the horsepower difference's between the two?

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I would think the only difference between a corvette ls1 and a camaro ls1 on the exterior would be the oil pan. :dunno: As for hp difference, I think if you had two ls1's, one from a camaro and one from a vette, both had indentical headers, cam, throttle body, etc, there would be very little difference.

oil pan and accessory brackets are the only differences that would cause a fitment issue. of course the exhaust manifolds could be an issue as well. you will probrably want to use fbody engine mounts. use a later style fuel rail and you want need to run a return line to the fuel tank.

TD Performance recently came out with adapter mounts to adapt factory mount/pad to the LS1 engines (check them out HERE (http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=964&prmenbr=361&ct=103)). They would probably simplify getting the engine in the car at least... when it comes to exhaust, that might be some work.

also check out john bzdel's website. he was one of the first guys i saw that put an ls1 and six speed in a monte ss and his execution of the project was spot on. home.earthlink.net/~bzdel/
