will these Boss 338 18x9.5 Black wheels, 5x4.75 -4mm offset (5" backspace wheels fit the rear of my car with 275-40-18

You will have to measure. I have not tried my 338 on my Buick T Type yet. I might give it a try...

On the Monte you can fit 275/40/17 on a 17x9.5 w 5.0 backspace without much trouble, but the tire will fill almost all of the space in the wheelwell.
It is also relatively common to find there is a small variation in the axle/frame/body alignment, where you may have to use a spacer on one side.
Also, depending on ride height, you may want to roll in the top of the rear fender lips, with something like eastwoods fender roller.
