1959 Chevy Wagon w/ flames... looking for wheel opinions.

OK, been looking for a nice 59 wagon for a few years. Stumbled across one that fit the bill, bitchen car, price was great. Only thing..it has flames. Not that I have an issue with flames, but if I had painted the car..it wouldn't have them.
Soooo... my other 59 has 18"/20" Coy's on it, and I had planned on doing 20/20's on a wagon but now that I have this one.... the flames give the car that "hot rod" look that I don't think will blend well with bigger wheels.
I don't care for the wheels on the car (15" Weld ProStars) as they are a dragrace kinda style, so I'm tossing around different ideas on wheels. Currently leaning towards some Halibrand Sprints, as they are definitely a "hot rod" wheel. Thinking 17's with a meaty tire (not low profile) to better fill the fenderwells. I've even considered a steel wheel with beauty rings and fat whitewalls... but not really leaning that way.
Just thought I'de get some additional opinions and ideas..see what you guys come up with. Any ideas appreciated.

First off, welcome to the site!

Second, Great looking wagon and yes the flames are going to make it hard to pull off certain types of wheels. I don't think you could go wrong with a set of wheels from billet specialties, they have that "Hotrod" look in sizes all the way up to 22"s. Due to the size of the wheel wells and how big the car is, I wouldn't do anything under an 18" wheel.

Here are a few I think would look good on your wagon..

      And some from Intro wheels..

I think the wagon with a 20/22 set up in this wheel would be cool as hell..

I just finished rendering this wheel for our NewGen line, and think it would be BITCHIN! We're calling it the Rally.

I do like those ones... I had tossed around the idea of 20/22 some time ago after I put the 18/20 combo on my 59 sedan. Plenty of room for them, these cars have such big wheel wells. My only concern with this car was that I thought the flames would sorta "clash" with a big set of wheels... maybe not though.
I know the guy that has my 59 sedan..maybe I'll see if he'll let me try the wheels on this car to see how it looks....

Here's a couple pics of similiar setups... the wagon is on 18/20 and the hardtops are on 20/22.
Having the cars sit so low (air bags) makes the smaller 18/20 combo look good, but I know from my other car that the 18" front looks too small if the car isn't that low.

Wow- Motochris is all over it. With pics!

I love those wagons and l wouldn't want flames on it either, but a nice polished 5-spoke is still the best way to go. Chris said it best already...

I wouldnt worry to much about the flames not working with large diameter wheels. Look at all the chevy trucks in truckin mag that are laid out on 24+ inch wheels and still rocking the old school flame paint jobs.

I think your wagon would look best with a set of polished wheels in a 20/22 setup.

Well... you guys got me leaning towards the 20/22 combo again! I'm thinking on the Coy's wheels again, as the price is just more affordable.
I had the C-5's on my last car... may want to go with the C-57's on this wagon.

      Couldn't find a pic of them on a 59....

Uh...dude, if you post up a pic of a gray wheel saying these would look good, I have to assume you mean the GRAY wheel you posted is what you are referring to.

The fact you had to explain this makes me laugh. Selling wheels would probably be easier if you didn't have to deal with customers ;)

Transformation underway... Motec EFI, dual Accufab 4500 throttle bodies, supercharger completely hidden under a cowl hood, wider 9" rear with 20x10 rims

At least he won't have to deal with this customer... If I'm getting a smartass comment before I ever purchase anything..I know it won't get better if I have an issue with something later on.
Anyway, got my 20/22 combo ordered up. Thanks for the input guys! I may not have gone this way without your suggestions. I'll post pics of it when I get back from vacation.

Wheels finally showed up today...should have pics on the car this weekend. I liked the looks of the Pentia wheel Muthstryker posted above...just didn't want to spend that much. Raceline wheels made me a screamin' deal on these. They are having the tires mounted right now.
