      Wheel fitment tool-For Rent???

Anyone have one of these or know of somewhere that might rent them out?

      http://www.autowaretech.com/mountmate.html

I'd like to use one to help determine the backspacing needed for the wheels I'd like to run. But I can't quite justify spending $500 for something I'll use just once.

So I thought I'd see if anyone who already has one would like to rent it out or if someone knows of a place (commercial tire dealer, etc) that might rent these.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

Here's a link to an article by CHP on wheel fitment. http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/techarticles/92318/# It has a how-to part on making a tool and using it. It looks like I'll have to take this route since nobody has responded to my post about fitment. I just hope the tool will suffice since real world experience doesn't seem to be there in my case.

      Good luck...

Yeah, I've seen that article. That tool would work well but I have both rear tires now and would really benefit me to use some that will physically put the tire up in the wheel well to see how its going to fit.

They are 335/35ZR17 tires that will be mounted on 17x11" wheels under an '87 Olds Cutlass. We are doing major surgery to fit these and want to make sure we get the exact wheel backspacing we need.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

How about trying to make one out of a piece of wood and some dowelling?

you might try the wheelright. The nice metal unitis $300 but they are supposed to be releasing a plastic version soon. I've been meaning to check on the plastic version, just never have gotten around to it.
